Downham Market is an ancient Saxon town and one of Norfolk's oldest, considered by many to be the gateway to the Fens with a network of waterways stretching almost to London. The town boasts many events throughout the year having the St Winnolds Fayre, the May Carnival, Music festival, Craft Sundays, a Water festival, a Medieval Pageant in August, Art events for the children, Celebrations for Halloween and Christmas and much more. The Town sits by the river Ouse which would suite boat owners and fisherman alike, at the last count there were over 140 clubs and organisations with something for everyone of all ages, come and join us. The Victorian Railway Station with it's railway line takes you to King's Lynn, Cambridge and London helping you keep in touch with your families who can visit you in this little piece of England with access to the world. Come to Downham Market and get a feel for the slower way of life and the friendliness of the town folk, it's a nice place to live to bring up a family and to retire to.
